  • Holiday Gala at the Governor's Mansion

The Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence (WCADV) will host its fourth annual Holiday Gala at the Governor's Mansion, 99 Cambridge Road, Monday, Dec. 13, 5-6:30 p.m. Author Judith Strasser will make a brief presentation.   • Jazz for Justice

Madison-area Urban Ministry will present its annual Jazz for Justice event at the Inn on the Park, 22 S. Carroll St., Thursday, Dec. 2. Enjoy the music of saxophonist Hanah John Taylor and jazz vocalist Jan Wheaton. Drop in 4-7 p.m. All proceeds will go toward the local match required for this federally funded project.

  • Bells of Christmas 2004

The Bells of Christmas 2004, featuring the uniquely beautiful music of one of the nation’s first handbell choirs, will take place Saturday, Dec. 11, 7:30 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 1609 University Ave. and Sunday, Dec. 12, 3 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 6101 University Av.   • Kids in the Crossroads

  • “The Gruffalo”

London’s inventive Tall Stories Theater Company will bring its newest family production, “The Gruffalo,” to the Overture Center, 201 State St., Sunday, Nov. 28, 3 p.m. This musical adaptation of the award-winning picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler is about crafty Mouse, who outwits foxes and snakes with his tall stories about the scary Gruffalo. Recommended for ages 3-7. Tickets are $14, $12, and $10 at the Overture Center ticket office, or by calling 258-4141.

  • Musical Responses to HIV/AIDS

“Positive Music: Musical Responses to HIV/AIDS” will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, 7:30 p.m. at the First Unitarian Society Meeting House, 900 University Drive. This unique event will feature musical responses to HIV/AIDS. Proceeds of the event will go directly to AIDS Network of Madison. For more information, call Mark, 252-6540 ext. 21.

  • “Christmas Spectacular”

Madison Symphony Orchestra (MSO) and Chorus’ “Christmas Spectacular” concerts, conducted by John DeMain, will be Friday, Dec. 3, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 4, 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 5, 2:30 p.m. in Overture Hall, 201 State St. The minimum age of 6 to attend an MSO concert will be waived for the weekend’s family-themed performances.   • Hmong New Year

  • Fair Trade Holiday Festival

  • Holiday Fest Arts and Crafts Show

  • “Dance Alive!”

“Celebrating Our Unity and Our Diversity” will take place Saturday, Dec. 4, 6-10 p.m. at the Madison Senior Center, 330 W.
