  • MadCAP

MadCAP will present the following at the Bartell Theater, 113 E. Mifflin St. $8 for adults, $6 for children.

• “Macbeth” — Shakespeare's tragic tale of greed, ambition, and insanity, performed by local young people under the tutelage of professional artist mentors Thursday, July 1, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

• “Rock Around the Block” — Tim Kelly's musical comedy commemorating the music and dance of the 1950s performed by local young people under the tutelage of professional artist mentors. Shows will be Friday, July 2, 2 p.m. and7 p.m.

  • Mother Fool's

Mother Fool's Coffeehouse, 1101 Williamson St., will host the following shows. All shows start at 8 p.m. and have a cover charge. All shows are for all ages and smokefree.

  • Lunch Time Live

 Lunch Time Live offers picnic concerts on the King Street Lawn of the Capitol Square every Tuesday at noon until August 10. John Chimes will play Tuesday, June 29. For more information, visit www.downtownmadison.org.

  • Madison Public Library

• Monday Afternoon Fun. Drop in for after-school fun at the South Madison Branch Library, 2222 S. Park St. Different activities every week include stories, crafts, videos, and snacks. For kids in grades K-4. For more information, call 266-6395.

• Pre-school videos for children 5 and under will be held at the Central Library, 201 W. Mifflin St., every Wednesday at 10 a.m. until July 28, the Central Library at 201 W. Mifflin St. will host 30 minutes of video for children ages 5 and under.  Registration is requested for each week by calling Central Library Youth Services, 266-6345.

• Ashman Anime Club Presents ... Perfect Blue. Perfect Blue represents a major change from traditional anime subject matter, analyzing the pop icon phenomenon, fame and its psychological impact on the performer. • Camp Storytime at the Pinney Branch Libary, 204 Cottage Grove Rd. Monday, June 28, 7 p.m. Gather 'round the campfire for a special storytime "under the stars,” with stories, music, crafts, and more. For children ages 3-9 and their parents. Limit of 30.   • Dunn Brothers Coffeehouse music

 Ian Purvis and Killrockstars will perform live music at the Dunn Brothers Coffeehouse, 517 Lake Street, Thursday, July 1, 7 p.m. $4. All ages. For more information, call 259-8996.

The St. Bernard Players are accepting ticket reservations for their upcoming production of “Annie” performed Friday-Sunday July 9-11 and July 15-17 at the Barrymore Theatre, 2438 Atwood Ave. Advanced reservations are required and can be made by calling 249-9256 ext. 2228.

  • Hot Summer Nights

The Hot Summer Nights music series at the Memorial Union Terrace, 800 Langdon St.,  will feature the following lineup

• Saturday, July 3 — Rhythm & Booms Night: Cashbox Kings, blues, play following the fireworks, roughly 9:30 p.m.-midnight.

  • Tony Castañeda Latin Jazz Sextet

Independent Living Retirement Community, 602 N. Segoe Road, is hosting a concert on Saturday, June 26, 1:30 p.m., featuring the rhythms of the Tony Castaneda Latin Jazz Sextet. Free and open to the public.

  • Smokie Joe Egaltor Art Show

  • Free outdoor concert

The School of Music's Summer Band will perform a free outdoor concert on Thursday, July 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the courtyard of Mosse Humanities Building, located at the corner of Park Street and University Avenue on the Madison campus.  Michael Lorenz will direct the 60-piece ensemble comprising current and former UW students, current high school students, and experienced musicians from the community.   • Dance Program

  • Dean House Concerts

The Blooming Grove Historical Society will present the 29th annual free public concerts at the Dean House, SE corner of Monona Dr and Dean Ave, Thursday evenings, 7:15 - dusk: July 1 - A Perfect Fifth,; July 8 - Capitol Chordsmen; July 15 - Stone Ring; July 22 - Round the Bend; and July 29 - Sound of Madison. There will be an ice cream social on Aug. 5, when KG and the Ranger will perform.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket. (Tours are also available on concert evenings.)
