St. Marys Hospital Medical Center and the American Cancer Society are offering an eight-week program for people with cancer and anybody touched by it, such as a spouse, family member, or friend. Beginning July 5, the group will meet every Monday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at St. Albert the Great Parish in Sun Prairie, 2420 St. Albert Drive. The class is free and open to the public. There will be an Alternative Independence Day Parade on Saturday July 3, 10 a.m. The parade will assemble at the corner of King and Webster streets and go to the Capitol Square, before heading down to James Madison Park. In the park, there will be a dramatic reading of grievances and music. People are invited to bring kids, bikes, costumes, signs, and hats and are encouraged to bring picnics for after the parade. In observance of National HIV Testing Day, the Madison Department of Public Health is expanding its HIV-testing hours to accommodate persons who want to be tested for HIV infection. Testing will be done on a walk-in basis. No appointments needed. Testing will be done Friday, June 25, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at 2705 E. Washington Ave. and 1-4 p.m. at 2202 S. The 2004 "Access to Jobs" job fair will focus on concerns related to the hiring of people with disabilities Wednesday June 30, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Dane County Job Center, 1819 Aberg Ave. Discussion topics will include understanding the Americans with Disabilities Act, accessing supportive services, employer tax incenties, and the benefits of hiring employees with disabilities.
