The "Unity Works: The Women of Color Experience" conference will explore similarities and differences in the cultures and lifestyles of women of color in our communities. Speakers and workshop presenters will focus on various approaches for achieving goals for economic self-sufficiency, employment satisfaction, health and wellness, education, and resolution of family challenges. The conference will run Aug. 19-21; registration is required by Aug. 5.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Wisconsin Chapter will host its 21st annual MS 150 Best Dam Bike Tour, a one- or two-day ride for cycling enthusiasts, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 7 and 8. Funds raised from the event will go toward research, advocacy, and educational support services for the more than 10,000 individuals living with multiple sclerosis (MS) in Wisconsin. YWCA of Madison is accepting nominations for the 15th Annual Racial Justice Awards. All entries must be submitted in writing before Aug. 15. The Greater Madison Chapter of the Association of Fund-raising Professionals (AFP) is accepting applications for its Diversity Fellows Program. The Grassroots Leadership College is accepting applications for the fall semester. Classes will begin in late August. The Grassroots Leadership College offers people who are interested in helping their neighborhood and community the opportunity to learn organizing skills and pursue a project of their design with the help of an experienced coach.
