VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

  • Mock interviewers

Common Wealth Development’s Youth-Business Mentoring Program is preparing for several new pre-employment trainings. Volunteers are needed to act as managers, supervisors, or business owners and to interview students as if the student was actually interviewing for a job. Volunteers generally interview two or three students per training and are needed for:

• Sennett Middle School, 502 Pflaum Road, Thursday, Jan. 15, 10:50 a.m.-12:25 p.m.; Thursday, Feb. 5, 9:45-11 a.m. and Thursday, March 4, 10:50 a.m.-12:25 p.m.

• East High School, 2222 E. Washington Ave., Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1:15-2:30 p.m.

  • HospiceCare Inc.

HospiceCare Inc. is encouraging people to carry the Season of Giving into the new year by applying for volunteer training in January. The 18-hour training will take place on  two Saturdays, Jan. 24 and 31, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Deadline to apply is Jan. 16. For more information, contact Karen Reilly, 276-4660.

  • Home Chore Volunteers

The Home Chore Volunteer Program needs volunteers of all ages citywide to assist frail, limited-income elderly home owners with ongoing home chores, including light housework, snow shoveling, or putting out garbage. For more information, call Paula Graffin, 243-5252.
